Position Overview

As Software Development Senior Manager in Austin, TX, you will lead a high-performing team of operators and developers responsible for the AI Compute Host Management within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This role involves owning the full lifecycle of AI compute resources, from operation and maintenance to enhancement and optimization, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability at scale. You will drive strategic initiatives to support Oracle's growing AI and machine learning workloads, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver world-class cloud services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software developers and operators, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable systems for AI compute host management in OCI
  • Drive operational excellence by monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing AI host infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to define roadmaps and prioritize features for AI compute enhancements
  • Implement best practices for automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code to streamline host provisioning and management
  • Analyze system metrics and performance data to identify bottlenecks and lead optimization initiatives for large-scale AI workloads
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, conduct risk assessments, and manage incident response for AI compute environments
  • Manage on-call rotations, capacity planning, and resource allocation to support 24/7 global operations
  • Champion cross-team initiatives to integrate AI host management with OCI's broader ecosystem, including networking and storage services
  • Provide technical leadership in code reviews, architecture decisions, and hiring top talent to build a world-class team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role
  • Proven track record managing teams in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, or compute management
  • Strong experience with AI/ML workloads, GPU/TPU management, or high-performance computing environments
  • Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and orchestration tools
  • Hands-on expertise in programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C++ for systems-level development
  • Experience with cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, GCP) and infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders and resolve complex technical challenges

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing AI-specific infrastructure, including NVIDIA CUDA, multi-node training clusters, or inference optimization
  • Background in SRE practices, with expertise in monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack
  • Previous leadership in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure or similar hyperscale cloud environments
  • Advanced degree or certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., OCI Architect Professional)
  • Demonstrated success scaling teams and delivering large-scale distributed systems projects
