Position Overview

As a Software Development Senior Manager on our Generative AI service team in Seattle, WA, you will lead the design and development of partner model integrations with leading AI providers such as OpenAI, xAI, Gemini, and more. You will manage a high-performing engineering team, drive enhancements to our existing software architecture, and propose strategic improvements to ensure scalability and performance. This role offers the opportunity to influence Oracle's AI ecosystem while collaborating with top-tier partners and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of software engineers in developing and integrating partner AI models from OpenAI, xAI, Gemini, and other providers into Oracle's Generative AI services.
  • Oversee the design of scalable software architectures for AI model integrations, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
  • Manage end-to-end software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and monitoring of AI service enhancements.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and partner teams to define technical roadmaps and integration strategies.
  • Identify and implement architectural improvements to existing systems, optimizing for cost, efficiency, and emerging AI capabilities.
  • Mentor and coach engineering team members, fostering a culture of innovation, code quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives with cloud infrastructure, security, and data teams to deliver robust AI solutions.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and lead root cause analysis for AI service reliability.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, including resource allocation, budgeting, and hiring for the Generative AI team.
  • Present technical progress, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record managing teams building cloud-native services, preferably in AI/ML or generative AI domains.
  • Deep expertise in software architecture design, microservices, and API integrations with external partners.
  • Strong experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go, and frameworks for scalable systems.
  • Hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., OCI, AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience in agile methodologies, sprint planning, and performance management.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating with AI models from OpenAI, xAI, Google Gemini, or similar large language models.
  • Background in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or enterprise database technologies.
  • Familiarity with AI observability tools, vector databases, and model serving frameworks like LangChain or vLLM.
  • Advanced degree or certifications in AI/ML, cloud architecture, or related fields.
  • Prior experience scaling AI services to handle millions of inferences with low latency.
