Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate Software Engineer - fresh graduate to join the Opower product team in Prague, focusing on energy efficiency and customer engagement solutions. This entry-level role is ideal for recent university graduates finishing their studies in the 2025/2026 academic year, offering hands-on experience in a dynamic, collaborative environment. Starting June 1st, 2026 or later, you will contribute to scalable cloud-based applications while growing your career at a Fortune 100 company. EU visa and work permission are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture for the Opower platform
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing features for energy analytics and reporting
• Write clean, testable, and well-documented code following Oracle's engineering best practices
• Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables and knowledge sharing within the team
• Debug and troubleshoot issues in production environments using modern observability tools
• Build and optimize database queries leveraging Oracle Database for high-performance data processing
• Contribute to agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
• Assist in designing scalable cloud solutions on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
• Learn and implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab for automated deployments
• Support testing efforts with unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure reliability

Required Qualifications

• Expected graduation in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field in academic year 2025/2026
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and data structures
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, or C++
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL, Oracle DB, PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git
• Strong problem-solving skills demonstrated through academic projects or internships
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
• Valid EU visa and work permission for the Czech Republic

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud, AWS, or Azure
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices, and containerization (Docker)
• Exposure to agile methodologies or scrum frameworks
• Participation in hackathons, open-source contributions, or relevant personal projects
• Familiarity with frontend technologies like React, Angular, or JavaScript
