Position Overview

As a Software Product & Cloud Architect at Oracle, you will lead the architecture, requirements, and deployment patterns for Oracle Sharded Database as a native cloud service spanning multiple regions and multi-cloud providers. This role offers the opportunity to design highly scalable, resilient database solutions that meet enterprise demands for global availability and performance. You will collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to deliver transformative cloud database capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect comprehensive solutions for deploying Oracle Sharded Database across multi-region and multi-cloud environments, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
• Define technical requirements, design patterns, and best practices for sharded database implementations in native cloud services.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to translate business needs into scalable cloud architectures.
• Design and prototype sharding strategies, data distribution models, and query routing mechanisms optimized for cloud-native deployments.
• Lead the development of deployment automation, orchestration tools, and CI/CD pipelines for multi-cloud sharded database services.
• Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and scalability analysis for sharded environments under diverse workloads.
• Engage with customers and partners to validate architectures, gather feedback, and iterate on deployment patterns.
• Document architecture decisions, create reference implementations, and contribute to technical whitepapers and enablement materials.
• Drive innovation in multi-cloud interoperability, data sovereignty compliance, and hybrid deployment scenarios for sharded databases.
• Mentor junior architects and engineers on cloud database best practices and sharding methodologies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in software architecture, with at least 5 years focused on distributed database systems.
• Deep expertise in Oracle Database, including sharding, partitioning, and high-availability configurations.
• Proven experience architecting cloud-native applications on platforms like Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong knowledge of multi-region deployments, data replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Proficiency in cloud services such as Kubernetes, Terraform, and container orchestration for database workloads.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with experience in performance optimization and troubleshooting complex distributed systems.
• Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent cloud architecture certifications (e.g., OCI Architect, AWS Solutions Architect).
• Experience with multi-cloud federation and hybrid cloud database architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle Sharded Database in production environments.
• Familiarity with database-as-a-service (DBaaS) offerings and serverless computing paradigms.
• Contributions to open-source projects or publications in cloud database architecture.
