Position Overview

As Sr. Manager, Software Development, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs for Oracle's data platform services and infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to drive technical excellence in a fast-paced environment, influencing the scalability and reliability of cloud-based data solutions. You will collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to deliver mission-critical services that support Oracle's global customer base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers in designing scalable data platform services and infrastructure components
  • Define technical vision and roadmap for data services, aligning with Oracle's cloud strategy and business objectives
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in distributed systems, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and architects, to prioritize features and resolve dependencies
  • Drive code reviews, enforce best practices, and implement CI/CD pipelines for efficient development workflows
  • Monitor system performance metrics and optimize infrastructure for cost-efficiency and scalability
  • Foster a culture of innovation, conducting regular team retrospectives and professional development initiatives
  • Partner with senior leadership to report on project status, risks, and achievements
  • Champion security and compliance standards in all data platform developments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role
  • Proven track record managing teams building data platforms, cloud services, or distributed systems
  • Strong expertise in programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or C++
  • Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, OCI, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with database technologies, microservices architecture, and RESTful APIs
  • Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated ability to mentor and grow engineering talent
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience debugging production-scale systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or similar enterprise cloud platforms
  • Background in big data technologies like Apache Kafka, Spark, or Oracle's data services
  • Advanced degree or certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., OCI Architect, AWS Solutions Architect)
  • Proven success in agile methodologies and DevOps practices for high-velocity delivery
  • Prior experience leading teams in a global, distributed environment
