Job Description

Overview

Technical Operations Engineer at Oracle in Japan is responsible for operating and maintaining production environments, including systems and databases, to support critical business operations. The role ensures high availability, performance, and reliability of Oracle's cloud and on-premise solutions. This position plays a key role in monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing infrastructure for seamless service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage production systems and Oracle databases for optimal performance and uptime.
  • Perform routine maintenance, patching, and upgrades on servers, databases, and applications.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Collaborate with development and engineering teams to deploy new features and updates.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, audit requirements, and operational standards.
  • Document processes, incidents, and changes for knowledge sharing and continuity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems or database operations, preferably with Oracle technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix, Oracle Database (12c/19c+), and cloud platforms like OCI.
  • Proficiency in monitoring tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, Prometheus) and scripting (Bash/Python).
  • Experience with high-availability setups, clustering, and performance tuning.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
