Role Overview

The Overnight Security Officer position at Choice Hotels in Chicago, Illinois, is a critical full-time role ensuring the safety and security of our upscale properties during night hours. With an attractive hourly pay rate of $25.00, this position blends hands-on security tasks, team development, and leadership responsibilities. Operating overnight, you'll patrol properties, respond to emergencies, train staff, and foster a secure environment for guests staying at brands like Radisson and Comfort Inn. Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities are divided into safety tasks (40%), team development (40%), and leadership (20%). In safety and security, conduct routine loading dock and employee lot inspections to maintain cleanliness, investigate violations, respond immediately to emergencies, review accident reports, and patrol the property for safety.

For team development, orient new employees, provide on-the-job training, ensure staff mastery of parking systems including server resets and reprogramming, and promote a proactive security and customer service approach while building inter-departmental and vendor relationships.

In leadership, promote security awareness through training for management and staff, act as a liaison for hotel management and guests without the Security Manager, meet with the Area Director of Facilities, attend event PreCONs, and lead the security team and Safety Committee.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel as an Overnight Security Officer, candidates need two years of security experience, preferably at upper upscale properties, a High School Diploma or GED, supervision experience in security, and CPR/1st Aid/AED certification. Solid knowledge of safety and security operations, strong interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution abilities are essential. Physical demands include standing or sitting for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs, and keen visual observation.
