Role Overview

The Packaging Leader - Manufacturing position in Guwahati, Assam, is a critical supervisory role within PepsiCo's dynamic manufacturing operations. You will oversee the packaging section to ensure materials are packed per PepsiCo's stringent standards, minimizing breakdowns, wastages, and downtime while maximizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). This full-time role demands hands-on leadership, technical expertise in automated packaging machines, and a passion for continuous improvement through TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) principles. With 3-7 years of experience in similar industries, you will lead a team of operators, coordinate cross-functionally, and contribute to small, continuous improvements that enhance plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day responsibilities will be diverse and impactful:

  • Supervise product packing to achieve daily and weekly targets in quality, quantity, and AVC (Available Capacity).
  • Coordinate with Raw Material/Primary Material Stores for timely availability of packing materials and with Engineering Stores for auxiliary machine parts.
  • Ensure maximum efficiency of packaging machines by minimizing breakdowns and downtime in collaboration with the Packing Engineer.
  • Maintain online leakage and film wastage within Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets and log machine-related issues for rectification.
  • Lead and motivate a team of packing operators, deploying them based on capabilities, fostering harmony, and enabling multiskilling via TPM.
  • Participate in packaging and quality wall meetings, communicate action plans, and question non-improvements or non-compliance with standards.
  • Troubleshoot minor machine problems, perform small repairs, and handle shift maintenance alongside engineering.
  • Ensure housekeeping and maintenance of the packing section per hygiene standards, promptly clearing hold materials and transferring waste.
  • Monitor OEE, implement corrective actions, coach operators for efficient machine handling, and document standard checks.
  • Support production manager in training compliance, benchmarking industry trends, and task force activities for plant improvements.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel in this role, you need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E.) in Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electrical, or Electronics.
  • Desirable: Prior experience in packaging maintenance.
  • Minimum 3-7 years of supervisory experience in a similar industry, preferably handling perishable products and automated packaging machines.
  • Strong exposure to manufacturing systems, shop floor culture, and interactions with internal teams like HR, Engineering, and Production, as well as external stakeholders.
