Job Description

  • Treat patients as directed by the Occupational Therapist.

  • Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes in compliance with Occupational Therapy Board requirements.

  • Treat patients according to the physician's treatment plan.

  • Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides.

  • Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.

  • Participate in in-service training programs for other staff within the facility.

  • Document evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation as per Occupational Therapy Board State Practice Act and governmental and third-party payer requirements.

  • Record treatment changes according to policy and procedures.

  • Instruct patients' families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services.

  • Participate in discharge planning.

  • Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area.

  • Report any problems with departmental equipment to ensure it is maintained in good working order.

  • Relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with patients/residents, families, staff, and professional colleagues.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensure: Valid Occupational Therapist Assistant License
