Job Opening: Occupational Therapist - PRN

Location:

Shadelands Post Acute

Position Overview:

Shadelands Post Acute is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist for a PRN position with weekend availability. This role offers competitive pay and a supportive working environment.

Job Description:

  • Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval for services from referring physicians.

  • Treat patients according to the physician's treatment plan.

  • Assist the nursing department with the training of Restorative Aides.

  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants in direct patient care and related activities, following state practice regulations.

  • Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.

  • Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.

  • Engage in in-service training programs for other staff in the facility.

  • Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation in accordance with the Occupational Therapy Board State Practice Act and third-party payer requirements.

  • Document treatment changes per policy and procedures.

  • Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services.

  • Participate in discharge planning.

  • Recommend and facilitate the ordering of necessary durable medical equipment to enhance patient mobility (e.g., braces, walkers, canes, elevated toilet seats, grab bars).

  • Report any issues with departmental equipment to ensure it remains in good working order.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Occupational Therapy License.
