Role Overview

In this senior leadership role, you'll spearhead the evolution of PagerDuty's API and developer experience, enabling internal teams, customers, and partners to build seamless integrations. Reporting to platform leadership, you'll bridge burning product development challenges with API-first principles. Key focus areas include aligning APIs with our AI team for MCP platforms, access control, and monetization; innovating SDLC integrations into IDPs like Backstage, IDEs, chat tools, and project management systems; and forging strategic partnerships with developer tooling leaders.

This remote role (Canada preferred, with hub preference in Toronto, San Francisco, or Atlanta) demands a technical product expert comfortable debating API merits and enterprise business cases. Key Responsibilities

  1. Guide API and developer experience evolution for internal, customer, and partner integrations.
  2. Align platform strategy with AI team on REST API, MCP, access control, and monetization.
  3. Lead SDLC innovation, embedding PagerDuty into developer daily tools (IDPs, IDEs, chat).
  4. Engage developers and tooling companies for strategic, high-impact integrations.
  5. Collaborate with product/UX managers on Operations Cloud functionality and customer journeys.
  6. Prioritize feedback from app dev, professional services, customers, and ISV partners.
  7. Partner with engineering/design on cutting-edge API design and DevEx enhancements.
  8. Define and implement API access control and monetization across admin/auth teams.
  9. Work with developer marketing on community engagement and ecosystem evangelism.
  10. Deliver business cases proving integration ROI for enterprise platform customers.
  11. Ensure all integrations meet valuable, feasible, usable, viable (VFUV) criteria.
  12. Champion developer-centric platform principles in cross-functional strategy sessions.
  13. Gather and synthesize developer input to continuously refine the platform roadmap.

Qualifications

To succeed, you'll need:

  • 10+ years in product management, focused on developer platforms/APIs.
  • Expertise in REST API design, platform strategy, and DevEx optimization.
  • Proven SDLC integration experience with IDPs (Backstage), IDEs, chat tools.
  • Technical depth to evaluate 3rd-party ecosystems (ServiceNow, Atlassian, Salesforce).
  • AI/ML platform alignment experience a strong plus.
