PagerDuty, Inc. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this strategic role demands an exceptional attorney with deep expertise in product law, intellectual property, security, and privacy to navigate complex technical and regulatory landscapes while driving business innovation.

You'll manage PagerDuty's IP portfolio, support product launches, and oversee the global privacy program amid rapid AI advancements. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Product & Privacy Legal Team: Provide strategic oversight, manage team performance, and mentor attorneys handling product counsel, IP, security, and privacy matters.
• Manage Intellectual Property Portfolio: Oversee patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, including prosecution, licensing, and enforcement strategies.
• Advise Product Development Lifecycle: Partner with engineering and product teams from ideation to launch, addressing security, privacy by design, IP protection, and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee Global Privacy Program: Ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and emerging international privacy laws; conduct audits, manage data mapping, and implement privacy impact assessments.
• Drive Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate legal risks in AI/ML technologies, cloud services, and SaaS products while promoting business agility.
• Build Cross-Functional Relationships: Collaborate with executives across product, security, sales, and compliance to align legal strategies with business objectives.
• Develop Scalable Processes: Create efficient systems for contract review, policy implementation, and regulatory monitoring to support organizational growth.
• Draft and Negotiate Agreements: Handle complex commercial contracts, vendor agreements, and data processing addendums with privacy/security clauses.
• Monitor Regulatory Landscape: Stay ahead of AI regulations, cybersecurity mandates, and privacy evolutions, advising on proactive compliance.
• Communicate Executive-Level Insights: Deliver clear, concise legal advice to C-suite leaders, influencing strategic decisions.
• Foster Innovation: Balance stringent compliance with flexibility to accelerate product innovation in a competitive tech landscape.
• Team Development: Recruit, train, and retain top legal talent to build a world-class Product & Privacy practice.
• Crisis Response: Lead legal responses to security incidents, data breaches, or regulatory inquiries.
• Policy Creation: Author company-wide policies on data usage, AI ethics, acceptable use, and privacy governance.

Qualifications

To succeed in this senior-level role, candidates must demonstrate:

• 10+ years of relevant legal experience with expertise in security, privacy, IP, commercial contracts, litigation, AI, or regulatory compliance.
• Proven track record advising product lifecycles on multifaceted legal issues.
• Active U.S. state bar admission in good standing.
• Experience managing and developing high-performing legal teams.
• Exceptional communication skills for executive audiences.
• History of implementing scalable cross-functional strategies.
• Deep knowledge of U.S./international privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and security standards.
• J.D. from accredited law school; tech industry experience preferred.
• Thrives in fast-paced, innovative environments.

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $350,000 - $500,000 USD yearly (base + bonus + equity), commensurate with experience.
