RESUME AND JOB
Cardinal Health
Cardinal Health is a global leader in healthcare services, empowering community oncology practices through our Navista alliance. With over 100 providers across 50 sites, Navista supports independent practices in delivering exceptional patient care while driving growth and innovation. At South Bay Radiation Oncology in Chula Vista, CA, affiliated with UC San Diego Health Physician Network, our Radiation Therapy team makes a tangible difference in patients' cancer journeys. We prioritize compassionate, patient-centered care, offering competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and flexible part-time schedules with no weekend requirements.
As a Part Time Radiation Therapist with Cardinal Health, you will operate linear accelerator machines to deliver precise radiation treatments for cancer and certain non-cancerous conditions. This role demands technical expertise, patient empathy, and adherence to safety standards. Based at our state-of-the-art facility at 959 Lane Ave, Chula Vista, CA 91914, you will collaborate with Radiation Oncologists and therapy teams to ensure safe, effective treatments. Anticipated hourly pay ranges from $43.30 to $71.69, with flexible hours tailored to your availability. Ideal for certified professionals seeking work-life balance in a supportive oncology environment.
Your daily impact includes administering physician-prescribed radiation therapy, verifying doses, fields, and angles before each session. You will simulate patients using CT scanners or simulators to localize treatment areas accurately, place protective devices to shield healthy tissue, and maintain meticulous treatment chart documentation. Radiation safety is paramount: perform machine checks, report abnormalities, and observe patient progress for complications using clinical decision-making skills. Work closely with the oncology team on treatment plans, uphold the Radiation Therapist Code of Ethics, and contribute to team efforts with punctuality and flexibility, including on-call availability as needed.
Expect routine tasks like dose verification, patient positioning, and equipment operation under moderate supervision, with regular output reviews by leads. Complex issues are escalated, ensuring high-quality care within defined protocols.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited radiation therapy technology school, ARRT Board eligible (certification preferred), with at least 1 year of experience. A Bachelor's degree in science or equivalent is preferred. Key assets include simulation experience, phlebotomy or IV skills (preferred but not required), and ability to work flexible schedules. Maintain all licenses, training, and certifications. This entry-to-mid-level role suits those who apply knowledge to standard tasks, learn quickly, and resolve routine problems within SOPs.
Cardinal Health values your contributions with an anticipated hourly range of $43.30-$71.69 for part-time flexibility. Enjoy 401k contributions, Paid Time Off, and myFlexPay for early wage access. No weekend shifts allow better work-life balance, plus opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative setting. Bonus ineligible, but our focus on employee well-being sets us apart in oncology care.
Advance your career in radiation oncology with Cardinal Health's robust development programs. Gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge equipment, collaborate with top oncologists, and access training for certifications. Part-time roles often lead to expanded responsibilities or full-time opportunities within Navista's network. We foster a culture of continuous learning, where your skills directly improve patient outcomes and practice success.
