Role Overview

The Area Pet Trainer leads pet training initiatives across assigned stores, training instructors, selling classes, and ensuring exceptional pet parent experiences. This role combines hands-on pet training, leadership, and retail support in a dynamic pet retail setting. No direct reports, but you'll guide associate development. Located in Bastrop, Texas, this position demands flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively sell training classes in-store, phone, and online; educate pet parents on curriculum benefits.
• Train, certify, and provide feedback on new Pet Training Instructors.
• Maintain paperwork, schedule optimal classes, and uphold store safety/cleanliness standards.
• Handle pet parent concerns, recommend merchandise, operate POS, and assist with sick/injured pets.
• Participate in store recovery, culture of belonging, and cross-department support.

Experience & Skills

Requires PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, 1+ year PetSmart training experience, and 2+ years customer-focused retail. Strong communication, computer proficiency, and composure under pressure essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and handling pets in a fast-paced environment.
