Role Overview
As Area Pet Trainer, you'll engage pet parents, deliver positive training experiences, and uphold PetSmart's vision. Key focus: training instructors across stores, selling classes, and enhancing store-wide pet parent satisfaction in a dynamic retail environment.
Pet Training Responsibilities
- Actively sell classes in-store, phone, and online.
- Educate on curriculum benefits and schedule optimal sessions.
- Maintain paperwork and recognize associate contributions.
Pet Training Leadership
- Certify new instructors and provide feedback to leaders.
- Attend company education for ongoing development.
Overall Store Experience
- Manage pet parent interactions, recommend services, and ensure safety.
- Clean training areas, handle POS backup, and assist departments.
- Respond to pet health issues and foster a culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Requires PetSmart Training Instructor Accreditation, 1+ year PetSmart training experience, 2+ years retail. Must have strong communication, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, computer skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs. No direct reports, but guide associate development.
