Role Overview

The Area Pet Trainer in Hawthorne, CA, leads pet training initiatives across assigned stores. You'll engage pet parents, deliver positive training experiences, and train new instructors while upholding PetSmart's vision, mission, and values. This role combines hands-on pet training, sales, leadership, and store support to drive participation and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Actively sell training classes in-store, phone, and online; educate on curriculum benefits.
• Train and certify new Pet Training Instructors; provide feedback to leaders.
• Schedule optimal classes, maintain paperwork, and ensure clean/safe training areas.
• Handle pet parent interactions, resolve concerns, and recommend services/merchandise.
• Support store operations: POS backup, cleaning, pet safety, and cross-department assistance.

Experience & Skills

Requires PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, 1+ year PetSmart training experience, and 2+ years customer-focused retail. Must have schedule flexibility, computer proficiency, strong communication, and ability to lift 50+ lbs. No direct reports, but guide associate development. Physical demands include standing, lifting, and pet handling in a dynamic retail setting.
