Role Overview

The Experience Leader (ELR) provides exemplary leadership to drive the pet parent experience through culture and strategy. Share responsibility for people/pet safety, daily operations, and financial results. Lead with full-time flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in our vibrant Chula Vista store.

Key Responsibilities

  • People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach, mentor associates; manage labor, training, recognition, and grievances; delegate tasks and ensure alignment with company priorities.
  • Store Experience: Oversee services (salon, training, hotel, day camp), events, adoptions; handle pet parent concerns; conduct safety checks and monthly walks; manage openings/closings.
  • Business Management: Drive sales, control shrink/P&L; manage expenses/labor; leverage resources for work orders and growth.

Experience & Skills

Bring 3-5 years of retail leadership in customer-focused settings. Excel in communication, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, and passion for pets. Prior experience in team development and operations is ideal.

  • Oversee PetSmart services like salon, training, hotel, day camp, live pet sales, and adoptions
  • Manage store operations, P&L metrics, expenses, labor, and business growth opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with policies, pet safety, store standards, and conduct monthly services walks
