Role Overview

The Experience Leader (ELR) provides exceptional leadership to drive the pet parent experience through culture and strategies. Shared responsibility for people/pet safety, daily operations, and financial results. Full-time role requiring schedule flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • People Leadership: Recruit, hire, coach associates; manage labor, training, onboarding, and grievances; delegate tasks and foster engagement.
  • Store Experience: Lead pet parent interactions; oversee services (salon, training, hotel, adoptions); ensure policy compliance, safety walks, and pet health responses; manage events and marketing.
  • Business Management: Drive sales/P&L goals; control expenses, labor, and inventory; collaborate with services teams for productivity.

Experience & Skills

Seeking candidates with 3-5 years retail leadership in customer-focused settings. Key skills: computer proficiency, strong communication, composure under pressure, passion for pets. Prior experience in pet retail, services oversight, or team management is ideal.

  • Oversee PetSmart services like salon, training, hotel, day camp, live pet sales, and adoptions
  • Manage store P&L including sales targets, shrink control, labor, and expenses
  • Ensure compliance with policies, conduct safety walks, and handle pet health emergencies
