Role Overview

The Director, Labor Planning & Operational Strategy sets the vision for labor optimization across Core and Services retail businesses. Partner with Finance, Store Ops, and enterprise leaders to balance cost efficiency with exceptional in-store execution, ensuring labor supports sales goals and customer experiences.

About the Team

Workforce, Insights & Planning owns labor optimization; Operations & Innovation drives processes and tech; Strategy leads Salon, PetsHotel, and in-store experiences. Together, we empower associates for efficient, pet-focused operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute labor strategies aligning spend with financial targets.
  • Lead forecasting using sales, traffic, and promo data for real-time decisions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support business priorities.
  • Deliver analytics and dashboards for store accountability.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team.
  • Innovate processes and integrate workforce systems like Kronos/Dayforce.

Experience & Skills

Seek 8-10+ years in retail labor planning/FP&A, Bachelor's (MBA preferred), retail ops expertise, analytical prowess, and leadership. Proficiency in forecasting tools and influencing executives required.

  • Proven cross-functional influence with senior leaders (experience)
  • Analytical skills with labor modeling and forecasting tools (experience)
  • Team leadership and talent development experience (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic labor planning and budget management to align spend with financial targets across retail formats
  • Oversee enterprise-wide workforce forecasting incorporating sales, traffic, and seasonal drivers
  • Partner with Store Operations, Finance, HR, and Merchandising for business alignment
  • Direct labor analytics, reporting, and insights to drive store performance
  • Build and develop high-performing labor planning team
  • Drive process innovation, technology integration, and operational efficiency
