Role Overview
The Director of Merchandise Operations & Retail Experience leads high-quality execution of merchandising strategies, ensuring customer-first experiences through flawless store operations. Bridge strategy and execution as a cross-functional leader partnering with Merchandising, Pricing, Marketing, Field Leadership, and more to deliver financial targets and scalable programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning, design, and implementation of merchandising initiatives with seamless store execution.
- Act as central liaison between PHO, CHO, and field teams, providing input on project timing, labor impact, and scalability.
- Oversee merchandise operations including planogram execution, weekly field communications, in-store marketing, and special projects.
- Partner with Labour & Capacity to align resources and translate strategies into actionable plans.
- Build enterprise partnerships and maintain clear communication loops with Canadian Field Leaders.
- Design analytics to evaluate performance, identify trends, and drive data-informed improvements.
Experience & Skills
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, plus extensive retail operations experience. Excel in strategic leadership, project management, cross-functional collaboration, and analytics. Passion for pet retail and customer experience essential.

- Partner with Labour & Capacity teams to evaluate workload and ensure initiative rollouts
- Build partnerships across Merchandising, Store Ops, and corporate departments
- Design performance analytics to measure initiative success and drive improvements
- Translate business strategies into actionable store-ready programs
