Role Overview

The Lead Adoptions Grant Manager supports the Great Lakes Region (WI, MI, OH, IN, IL) in a hybrid field role blending travel to PetSmart stores, partner visits, remote home office work, and periodic Phoenix HQ trips. Oversee adoption grants, build partnerships, and represent PetSmart Charities externally to amplify adoptions and the human-animal bond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate grant applications, recommend funding, and manage full grant lifecycle including contracts and compliance.
  • Track grantee performance, budgets, and metrics for maximum impact.
  • Foster relationships with store/district leaders, grantees, and stakeholders.
  • Represent at conferences, events, and facilities; travel 30-40% nationally.
  • Collaborate on policies and strategic investments in animal welfare.

Experience & Skills

Seek 5-7 years in grant-making or animal welfare with proven partnership success, analytical skills, and comfort in dynamic settings. Excel in communication, negotiation, organization, and MS Office. Passion for pet missions required; Great Lakes residency ideal.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred (experience)

  • Manage grantee lifecycle, contracts, compliance, and performance tracking
  • Cultivate relationships with store leaders, district teams, and welfare organizations
  • Represent PetSmart Charities at events, conferences, and partner visits
  • Manage regional grant budgets to maximize mission-aligned impact
  • Travel 30-40% nationally, blending field, remote, and home office work
