Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers exceptional salon services, ensuring positive experiences for pets and pet parents. This role combines hands-on grooming expertise with customer engagement, salon management, and sales to drive salon success while upholding the highest standards of pet health, safety, and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming services per PetSmart standards, including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care.
- Consult with pet parents on pet needs, recommend wellness solutions, and promote merchandise/services to meet sales goals.
- Handle salon operations: greet clients, manage reservations, conduct check-ins/check-outs, reminder calls, and maintain accurate client records.
- Ensure salon hygiene through daily maintenance, end-of-day cleaning, and immediate response to pet health issues, including vet transport if needed.
- Participate in team support across departments and embody PetSmart's culture of recognition and inclusion.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have prior grooming experience or 6 months in PetSmart's Stylist in Training with Salon Academy certification. Key traits include computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings, weekends, holidays), organizational precision, and strong communication. Physical demands involve lifting up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), standing, stooping, and working in a pet-filled environment with moderate noise and wetness.
