Role Overview
PetSmart’s Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet health, safety, and positive pet parent experiences. This full-time role upholds our vision, mission, and values, sharing responsibility for salon cleanliness and operations in a fast-paced retail environment.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), stoop, kneel, reach. Exposed to wet conditions, pet hair, moderate-high noise, and live animals. Depth perception required; reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming menu and standalone services per PetSmart standards.
- Consult with pet parents on needs, recommend solutions, and drive sales of merchandise/services.
- Handle check-in/out, reservations, client records, reminder calls, and rebooking.
- Maintain salon sanitation via daily checklists; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Assist other departments, follow policies, and contribute to salon productivity metrics.
Experience & Skills
- Prior grooming or 6 months PetSmart Stylist in Training with Salon Academy certification.
- Computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling.
- Strong organization, attention to safety/detail, communication skills.

- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing per PetSmart standards
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise
- Manage salon operations: check-ins, check-outs, reservations, client records, reminder calls
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety; handle sick/injured pets immediately
- Drive salon sales targets and participate in store-wide duties as needed
