Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers exceptional salon services, ensuring positive experiences for pets and pet parents. This hands-on role combines technical grooming expertise with customer engagement, salon maintenance, and sales growth in a fast-paced retail environment. Located in Bessemer, Alabama, you'll contribute to our mission of pet health, happiness, and humane care.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care following PetSmart standards.
- Consult with pet parents on wellness solutions, manage appointments, and promote services to meet sales targets.
- Ensure salon cleanliness and pet safety, including end-of-day maintenance and immediate response to sick/injured animals.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebooking while providing outstanding customer service.
- Collaborate across departments and embody our culture of recognition and inclusion.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have prior grooming experience or 6 months as a PetSmart Stylist in Training with successful Salon Academy completion. Proficiency in computers, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong organization, communication, and composure under pressure are essential. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), standing, and working in a pet-filled environment with moderate noise.
