Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers exceptional salon services while ensuring pet health, safety, and positive pet parent experiences. This role combines hands-on grooming expertise with customer engagement, salon operations, and sales growth in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming services per PetSmart standards: baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary care.
- Consult with pet parents on wellness solutions, recommend products/services to meet pet needs.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-in/out, reminder calls, rebooking.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, ensure humane pet conditions.
- Drive sales targets through merchandising, upselling, and achieving productivity metrics.
- Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience required, or 6 months as PetSmart Stylist in Training with successful Salon Academy completion and safety certification. Must demonstrate computer proficiency, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational skills, attention to safety, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, exposure to wet/hair-filled environments and live animals.
