Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers exceptional salon services, ensuring positive experiences for pets and pet parents. This role combines technical grooming expertise with outstanding customer service, salon maintenance, and sales growth in a fast-paced retail environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming services per PetSmart standards: baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary care.
- Consult with pet parents on health/wellness needs and recommend solutions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, reservations, reminder calls, and client records.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety; perform daily/end-of-day maintenance.
- Drive sales through merchandise/service recommendations to meet targets.
- Respond to pet health issues, including vet transport if needed; assist other departments.
Experience & Skills
Require prior grooming experience or successful completion of PetSmart's 6-month Stylist in Training program with Salon Academy certification. Must demonstrate computer proficiency, composure under pressure, organizational skills, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking extensively, and working in a pet-filled, sometimes noisy/wet environment. Depth perception and animal handling experience preferred.
