Role Overview
PetSmart Pet Stylists (Dog/Cat Groomers) deliver exceptional salon services, ensuring positive pet parent experiences. Located in Kansas City, Kansas, this role upholds PetSmart's vision through expert grooming, safety standards, and sales excellence. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential in this hands-on position involving pet handling and moderate physical demands.
Essential Physical Demands
Expect standing, lifting up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), reaching, stooping in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise and live animal exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming menu and standalone services per company standards.
- Consult with pet parents on wellness solutions, manage appointments, and promote sales.
- Ensure salon cleanliness via daily maintenance checklists and end-of-day protocols.
- Handle pet health emergencies, including vet transport if needed.
- Participate in store culture, follow policies, and assist other departments.
Experience & Skills
Require prior grooming experience or successful PetSmart Salon Academy completion. Key skills: composure under pressure, organizational precision, strong communication, computer proficiency, and safety focus. Depth perception and physical agility are vital.

- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including bath, brush, nail trims, teeth brushing per PetSmart standards
- Engage pet parents to recommend services and products, drive salon sales
- Manage check-in/out, reservations, reminder calls, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, pet safety, and humane conditions daily
- Respond to pet health issues and assist other departments as needed
