Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet health, safety, and exceptional pet parent experiences. This hands-on role combines grooming expertise with customer engagement, salon operations, and sales growth in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently perform full grooming services per PetSmart standards: baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary care.
- Consult with pet parents on health/wellness solutions and recommend services/merchandise to meet sales targets.
- Handle check-in/out, reservations, reminder calls, and maintain accurate client records.
- Uphold salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions; perform daily maintenance.
- Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience required, or 6 months as Stylist in Training with successful PetSmart Salon Academy completion and safety certification. Must have computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), strong organization, attention to safety, and superior communication skills. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, noisy environment with live animals.
