Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet health, safety, and exceptional pet parent experiences. This full-time role in our Lafayette store involves grooming, customer engagement, salon maintenance, and sales growth. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential in this fast-paced pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming menu: baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary services per PetSmart standards.
- Consult with pet parents on needs, recommend wellness solutions, and upsell merchandise/services to meet sales targets.
- Handle check-in/out, reservations, reminder calls, and client records using computer systems.
- Maintain salon cleanliness/sanitation, monitor pet welfare, and transport sick/injured pets to vets as needed.
- Support store operations, follow policies, and contribute to a positive team culture.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience required, or 6 months as PetSmart Stylist in Training with successful Salon Academy completion and safety certification. Must demonstrate composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a pet-filled, noisy environment with wet conditions and moderate physical demands like standing, stooping, and climbing.
