Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet health, safety, and positive pet parent experiences. This role upholds our vision, mission, and values, sharing responsibility for salon cleanliness and operations in a fast-paced retail environment.
Essential Physical Demands
Expect to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift over 100 lbs), stoop, kneel, and handle pets in a wet, pet hair-filled space with moderate to high noise levels. Depth perception and composure under pressure are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently perform full grooming menu and standalone services per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, sell merchandise, and drive salon sales targets.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily maintenance, and respond to pet health issues.
- Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience required, or 6 months as Stylist in Training with successful PetSmart Salon Academy completion and safety certification. Strong communication, organizational skills, computer proficiency, and schedule flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays) essential. Passion for pets and attention to safety details set top candidates apart.
