Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers exceptional salon services, ensuring positive experiences for pets and pet parents. This role combines technical grooming expertise with outstanding customer service, salon maintenance, and sales growth in a fast-paced retail environment. Full-time position with flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming menu: baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary services per PetSmart standards.
- Consult with pet parents on health/wellness needs, recommend and sell services/merchandise to meet sales targets.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-in/out, reminder calls, client records, rebooking.
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety; perform daily/end-of-day maintenance.
- Respond to pet health issues, transport to vet if needed; assist other store departments.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience required, or 6 months as PetSmart Stylist in Training with successful Salon Academy completion and safety certification. Must demonstrate computer proficiency, composure under pressure, strong organization, attention to safety, and superior communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking extensively, exposure to wet/hairy environments and live animals.
