Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet health, safety, and exceptional pet parent experiences. This role combines technical grooming expertise with customer engagement, salon management, and sales to achieve store goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming menu: baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary services per PetSmart standards.
- Consult with pet parents on needs, recommend wellness solutions, and upsell merchandise/services to meet sales targets.
- Handle salon operations: greet clients, manage reservations/check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and client records.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions; perform daily/end-of-day maintenance.
- Monitor pet health, respond to emergencies (e.g., transport to vet), and assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience required, or 6 months as PetSmart Stylist in Training with successful Salon Academy completion and safety certification. Must demonstrate computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational skills, attention to safety, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair/wet environment with moderate-high noise and live animal exposure.
