Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers exceptional salon services while ensuring pet health, safety, and positive pet parent experiences. This hands-on role combines technical grooming expertise with customer service, sales, and salon operations in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming menu: baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary services per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents in consultations, recommend wellness solutions, and promote services/merchandise to meet sales goals.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-in/out, reminder calls, client records, and rebooking.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues including vet transport if needed.
- Collaborate across departments, follow policies, and contribute to store metrics.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience required, or 6 months as PetSmart Stylist in Training with successful Salon Academy completion and safety certification. Must demonstrate computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational precision, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, noisy environment with live animals.
