Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) delivers best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet health, safety, and positive experiences. This role combines hands-on grooming expertise with customer engagement, salon operations, and sales growth in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming services per PetSmart standards: baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary care.
- Consult with pet parents on health/wellness solutions and recommend services/merchandise to meet pet needs.
- Handle salon operations: greet clients, manage reservations, check-in/out, reminder calls, and rebooking.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; perform daily/end-of-day maintenance.
- Monitor pet health, take action on sick/injured animals, and assist other departments as needed.
- Drive salon sales targets through promotions and productivity metrics.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience required, or 6 months as PetSmart Stylist in Training with successful Salon Academy completion and safety certification. Must demonstrate computer proficiency, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational skills, attention to safety, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, noisy environment with live animals.
