Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog/Cat Groomer) delivers exceptional salon services, ensuring positive experiences for pets and pet parents. This hands-on role combines technical grooming expertise with customer engagement, salon maintenance, and sales growth in a fast-paced retail environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
Essential Physical Demands
Expect to stand, lift up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), handle pets in a wet, noisy setting with pet hair. Depth perception and composure under pressure required.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming menu and standalone services per PetSmart standards.
- Consult with pet parents on wellness solutions, promote merchandise to meet sales targets.
- Handle reservations, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and maintain accurate client records.
- Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety; respond to health issues by transporting to vet if needed.
- Participate in store culture, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
- Prior grooming or completion of PetSmart's Salon Academy with certification.
- Computer proficiency, strong communication, organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure, pet-filled environments with safety focus.

Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including bath, brush, nail trims, teeth brushing per PetSmart standards
- Engage pet parents to recommend services and products, drive salon sales
- Manage check-in/out, reservations, reminder calls, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, pet safety, and report sick/injured pets
- Assist other departments and uphold company policies
