Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog/Cat Groomer) delivers exceptional salon services, ensuring positive experiences for pets and pet parents. This hands-on role combines technical grooming expertise with customer service, salon operations, and sales in a fast-paced pet retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming services per PetSmart standards: baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary care.
- Consult with pet parents on health/wellness needs and recommend solutions.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-in/out, reminder calls, rebooking.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions daily.
- Drive sales through merchandise/service recommendations to meet targets.
- Monitor pet health; transport to vet if needed; assist other departments.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience required, or 6 months as PetSmart Stylist in Training with successful Salon Academy completion and safety certification. Must demonstrate computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational precision, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, exposure to wet/hair-filled environments, and animal handling.
