Role Overview
PetSmart Pet Stylists (Groomers) deliver exceptional salon services for dogs and cats, ensuring positive experiences for pets and parents. This full-time role demands grooming expertise, customer focus, and commitment to safety/cleanliness standards in a fast-paced retail environment. Located in Sterling, Illinois, you'll contribute to salon sales goals while handling physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming menu: baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary services.
- Consult with pet parents on needs, recommend wellness products, and drive sales.
- Handle appointments: greetings, check-ins/outs, reminders, rebooking, and record-keeping.
- Maintain salon hygiene, monitor pet health, and respond to emergencies (e.g., vet transport).
- Collaborate across departments and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Require prior grooming experience or successful PetSmart Salon Academy completion. Must excel in computer use, stay composed under pressure, and communicate effectively. Physical agility for standing, lifting, and animal handling in a noisy, pet-filled setting is essential. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays required.

- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client communications
- Maintain salon cleanliness, pet safety, and perform end-of-day maintenance
- Assist with sick/injured pets and collaborate across store departments
