Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Stylist (Dog/Cat Groomer) delivers exceptional salon services while ensuring pet health, safety, and positive pet parent experiences. This full-time role in our Thousand Oaks store involves grooming expertise, customer engagement, salon operations, and sales growth. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential in this fast-paced pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently execute full grooming menu: baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, sanitary services per PetSmart standards.
- Recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, client records, and drive salon sales targets.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane pet conditions; respond to health issues including vet transport.
- Provide outstanding pet parent service via in-person, phone, and register interactions; assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience required, or 6 months as PetSmart Stylist in Training with successful Salon Academy completion and safety certification. Must demonstrate computer proficiency, composure under pressure, organizational skills, attention to safety, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking, exposure to wet/hair-filled environments, moderate-high noise, and live animal handling. Depth perception and team lifting for heavier loads required.
