Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level position builds foundational skills while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Consult with pet parents on needs, recommend wellness solutions, and manage appointments via phone, in-person, and register.
- Maintain salon sanitation, conduct end-of-day cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Drive sales by promoting services and merchandise to hit targets.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, and strong communication/organizational skills.
