Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Abilene, Texas, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a skilled Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote salon sales, recommend wellness solutions, ensure salon cleanliness, and respond to pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure. Proficiency in computer applications required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise.
