Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Located in Alabaster, Alabama, this position offers a pathway to a rewarding career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote salon sales, recommend wellness solutions, and ensure the highest cleanliness and humane conditions. Assist with sick/injured pets and support other store departments as needed. Follow all company policies for safety and operations.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Salon maintenance and end-of-day cleaning
- Appointment reminder calls and rebooking
- Sales of merchandise and services
- Pet safety monitoring and vet transport if required
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for long periods, and working in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise. Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
