Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services while upholding company values, ensuring pet safety, store cleanliness, and exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Consult with pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and services.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-in/out, reminder calls, and rebooking.
- Drive sales through merchandise recommendations and salon promotions.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene and respond to pet health issues promptly.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational prowess, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.
