Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through the Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while ensuring pet safety, salon cleanliness, and exceptional pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills, recommend wellness solutions, and upsell services/merchandise to meet sales goals.
- Handle pet parent interactions: greet, answer questions, manage reservations, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Assist other departments and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, computer skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
