Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Located in Alcoa, Tennessee, this position offers a dynamic start to a rewarding career in pet care.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote salon sales, recommend wellness solutions, and uphold cleanliness and safety protocols. Assist with sick/injured pets and support other store departments as needed.

Daily Operations

• Engage pet parents in-person, phone, and at register
• Execute maintenance checklists for salon sanitation
• Drive sales through service and merchandise recommendations

Experience & Skills

PetSmart’s Salon Academy completion and safety certification required. Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must demonstrate composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
