Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Aliso Viejo, California, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in providing best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Uphold salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments as needed. Take immediate action for sick or injured pets.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Conducting check-in/out procedures and reminder calls
- Ensuring humane conditions and end-of-day maintenance
- Selling merchandise and growing salon metrics
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Must stand for long periods, lift 50+ lbs, and work evenings/weekends/holidays in a pet-filled environment.

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
