Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe, industry-leading grooming skills while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision. Ideal for passionate animal lovers eager to launch a career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents to recommend solutions, manage appointments, maintain salon hygiene, ensure pet safety, and drive sales. Assist in other store areas as needed and follow all company policies.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Greeting clients and handling reservations
- Conducting check-in/out procedures
- Performing end-of-day cleaning per checklists
- Identifying and addressing pet health issues promptly
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure are essential. Must handle physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a pet-filled environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
