Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminder calls, and client consultations.
- Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and respond to pet health issues.
- Drive salon sales through merchandise recommendations and service promotions.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seeking candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and computer proficiency. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs (team lift over 100 lbs), standing, stooping, and keen depth perception.
