Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision from expert stylists, mastering best-in-class techniques for baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, salon hygiene, and driving salon success through sales and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services per PetSmart standards while developing safe technical skills.
- Engage pet parents with personalized consultations, service recommendations, and wellness solutions.
- Handle salon operations including greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and rebooking.
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Promote sales to achieve targets and assist in other store areas as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply), but our Academy provides comprehensive training. You'll need strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
