Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's expert grooming teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll deliver top-tier salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and build lasting pet parent relationships in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Consult with pet parents on wellness solutions and rebook appointments.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions for all pets.
- Drive sales through merchandise recommendations and salon promotions.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, and emergency pet care protocols.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must pass PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Thrive in fast-paced settings with strong communication, organization, and pet-handling skills. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in pet hair environments. Flexible scheduling required.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, and sanitary services

- Manage check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales and merchandise
- Assist in other store departments as needed
