Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position builds foundational grooming skills while contributing to store operations and sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records.
• Recommend wellness solutions, promote services and merchandise to drive salon sales.
• Uphold cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; handle sick/injured pets promptly.
• Assist in other departments and participate in Belonging and Recognition culture.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.
